    89 325is Manual what diff?

Is there a way of knowing what diff is in a car just by knowing some basic car info. I looked under the car but the diff is covered in dirt mud and I wondered if there was a way to know what the diff is.

Its a 1989 325is manual. Obviously I know I can jack up the car and clean it and check just looking for some info. A friend said it should be a 3.73
