Most of it is garbage and fueling chinese global dominance. I will admit to a couple purchases here and there though.

Just keep in mind the sale prices aren't always what they're cracked up to be. Perfect example is the aluminum racing jacks. "Sale price" is $79.99 regularly $99.99, but you can find a coupon in the back of Car and Driver, Popular Mechanics, any number of magazines for $59.99.

I have more Harbor Freight stuff than I care to admit, but I will anyway. Things like 3/8" Torx and E-Torx sets that I bought when I was just starting out as a stop-gap until I could afford "real" ones I'm still using 12 years on and counting. I have one of those aluminum jacks that's seen shop duty for five years now and is still going.

I have enough right angle die grinders that I don't have to stop and change bits, they're all pre-loaded in my toolbox. For $10 each, why not? If one craps out (which has yet to happen) I'll buy another.

We have a folding engine crane in the shop that was $300 off a tool truck. There's a coupon for the EXACT same one at Harbor Freight for $99.

I make an effort to buy non-chinese goods, including clothes. I prefer my sweat shops to be in malaysia. I've gone usa only tools for quite some time. In fact I've sold most of my chinese tools I bought when I had to for financial reasons.

I am not saying I am for it. But someone saying "don't buy that because it is made in China" is a hypocrite. Because half his clothes, and belongings ARE from China.

Well, as long as you use jackstands you'll be fine. If it fails on it's way up (unlikely) it won't hurt anybody. In the case that it fails (slim chance) you can always revert back to using the factory jack to get the corners up one by one-- just slower.
