I think what we have right now in f1 is a lot of drivers who are very aggressive and not going to yield to anyone. Maybe it's because the sport has become so much safer and the consequences are less severe as far as injuries then the past. I dont really now but no one is willing to give an inch it seems.
Part of what made MS and Senna so good was they did wreck a lot early on and I think got a reputation that they are going for the gap no matter what, as they got older it set them up were other drivers feared them and wouldnt challenge them as much because they knew those guys could possivly take them out.
I think it's great we have so many guys who want to win at all costs, and I can't wait till kubica is back in the mix.
Did anyone else think the 2drs zones was bs for the lead car? MS got fucked hard by it. You get passed then the car that passed you can get a bigger gap because of the second zone.Comment

I still dont agree. If you watch the line Button was taking he would have run over the curb for the second apex. Alonso gave him room on the inside. An accident is considered 'not doing everything, within reason, to avoid contact'. Button did not give Alonso the room for the second apex and that is why they contacted.

^Just busting your balls really.
Yeah, but if you looked at the head on shots, you could see Mercedes was running a lot more rear wing, than McLaren or Red Bull, which is part of why it made that battle so crazy.
Maybe I missed it, but it didn't seem the other cars were closing on each other quite like Webber/Button did on Schumi.Need parts now? Need them cheap? steve@blunttech.com

I think the drs system is bullshit period if everyone can't use it all the time or at the same time. It makes the racing artificial, I don't want my passing to be like basketball or nascar where changes in score and position don't matter as much. Turkey, I think it was but might have been malaysia, was the worst, it seemed like no matter what, as long as you were within a second going into the drs area you were getting that pass.Comment

I dont know if the opening is a standard size....it seems to me the McLarens have the smallest opening when in use and the RBR and Ferrari have really huge openings,,, and yes Weber looked like he was shot out of a cannon compared to schumi when he had the drs.....
I am also totaly against the use of it period as it makes passing artificcial but 2 zones is a damn joke. You are much better off being the trailing car and ick drafting off the lead car. I think in the spirit of what F1 used to be the f-duct should have been allowed and then the teams could design their own system.....
FIA: F-duct is just to much for drivers to concentrate on while racing
FIA: We will implement drs system to be used at one straight on the track to promote excitement which will be controlled by a button on the steering wheel.
FIA: DRS can be used in quali at anytime
FIA: We will have 2 points in Canada and Valencia where drivers can use the drs system.
Me: cunfused and head scratching,,,,, but I thought,,,, what about,,,,,,hughLast edited by naplesE30; 06-15-2011, 09:08 AM.Comment

If you guys don't follow this blog, you are seriously missing out. There is an explanation about the DRS slots from a few weeks ago in there as well, explaining why some teams have bigger gaps than others.

I'm talking about looking at the angle of attack, in other words when you look at the car head on, how much wing do you see? You can see the Mercedes had their element more vertical to the ground than parallel like RBR/McLaren.I dont know if the opening is a standard size....it seems to me the McLarens have the smallest opening when in use and the RBR and Ferrari have really huge openings,,, and yes Weber looked like he was shot out of a cannon compared to schumi when he had the drs.....

So they are needing the extra rear downforce to balance car, which is costing them top speed.
(Does that make sense? I don't feel like I'm explaining it well)Need parts now? Need them cheap? steve@blunttech.com

A movie is apparently being made about Niki Lauda, and may be directed by Ron Howard. Sounds interesting, I just hope they don't fuck it up too much. http://www.yallaf1.com/2011/06/22/mo...ontent=TwitterComment
