    Non E30 opinions

So my girlfriend is in need of a new car and Im looking at a 1990 saab 900 turbo. Its in mint condition minus the fact that it needs a new exhaust system from the cat back and there are a few cracks in the dash. Does anyone have any experience with these cars? They seem to be quite reliable but tell me if Im wrong. Any general opinions? Thanks

Great lookin cars, but expensive to fix and like to break.

    How 'bout an E30 :)

        Just a tad.

They're piles of junk, to put it in a few elegant words.

My girl just got a g20 p11 last week. For what I've read so farr it's engine is bullet-proof. Not an e30, but as far as luxury options, loadedsoft, but still fun to drive.

G20: 93.5+ (with airbags, not motor belts) are very nice cars and many girls i know have, and love, them. 94/95/96 are stylish and slightly more up to date looking than earlier models. they are definately loaded and have good gas mileage.

            plus, big back seat.

and you can pick up a 93.5 for sometimes as little as $2K in good condition.

I might get the hate for this, but Subaru WRX. My sister has one and it is sooooooo fun to drive. I'm even thinking about getting one for my wife. I would have to go WRX wagon because I have a kid and I need the space. Plus, having a fast wagon is twice as fun.

Yeah, get the G20. Solid cars but are dogs with automatic trannies.

                  Can't beat a m20/m50 powered e34. Also, e36s can be had pretty cheap with an m50...or even a m42 powered e36.

Got rid of the WRX so my wife could get whatever she wanted.... She picked out a silver RX-8 fully loaded and said six speed or not at all. Little did she know that I had future plans for another bmw and this was paving the way for "I got rid of my wrx for you" and now we're both happy. btw she loved the rex more than I did.

I would buy her a 1995 525ia. very good, very reliable cars. I actually have one now, I love it.

The Saab 900 is a pretty good car, but since it is frot wheel drive, when the first little thing goes out just throw the car in the trash. $$$$$

I drove a 1992 Volvo 240 for a little more than a month, about 1200 miles. That thing was great. Smooth ride, 28 mpg, makes a u-turn inside what an e30 can do.

If your wife is concerned about apperance go with the '95 525. if not go for the volvo 240
