did anybody read his wall of text?
He mentions about not touching the engine, and also states that the paint isnt perfect.
Up for sale is a beautiful 1970 2800 CS that has been tastefully modified for power, beauty, and driveability. A detailed history and receipts are also included. Here are some of the highlights:
According to the BMW Archives, this car was built on April 7th, 1970 and delivered to the Schey BMW dealership in Alsenz, Germany. It was orignially a Polaris, automatic car.
It made it's way to california and in 2001, underwent a restoration and upgrades at Autohaus Munich in San Diego. The car was fitted with a freshly rebuilt 3.0 liter engine, 5-speed transmission, dual Weber carbs, new air conditioning components, brakes (including new front calipers), and various suspension/steering components (total receipts for the work were $10K). The car was repainted black, received a high-end hidden stereo (CD, amp, crossovers, speakers hidden in door panels and parcel shelf), a Nardi steering wheel, and went on to live in California until I bought it in the summer of 2009.
In the last 2 years, the previous owner and I did the following: installed new carpet, door brakes, 3-point seatbelts, dynaliner sound deadening, Carl Nelson lowering springs, BBS 2-piece forged17" wheels (fully refinished), Goodyear Eagle GT 225/45/17 tires (less than 100 miles on them!), CSL racing front airdam, hood windslpits, roof spoiler, and duckbill spoiler, trunk tiedowns, new roundels, and new exhaust components.
Also included in the sale is the stock front chrome bumper in fantastic condition, stock 14" wheels with hubcaps and NEW (100 miles) Yokohama Avid 215/60/14 tires. I also started collecting most parts to do a fuel injection conversion, and they will also be included in the sale.
Random thoughts: the car starts right up, every time. I would rate the paint at a 7.5/10, or call it a 10-footer. It's shiny, with no oxidation. The engine compartment has yet to be restored; I started the sound deadening removal and cleaning. The clock doesn't work and the dash has some cracks. The stereo is NICE, and the exhaust is quiet. The "R" word: being a Californina car for most of it's life, it is very solid. The passenger floor has been replaced. The only place I noticed any damage (and VERY minimal) is bottom of the wheel wells (ie. the "ends" of the rockers). I have since cleaned and protected those. This is an awesome, beautiful car that is absolutely ready to drive, and still has a few weekend projects to tinker with.
Please feel free to see the car in person in Richmond, Virginia (test drives at my discretion), or email me and I'd be happy to answer any of your questions via mail or phone.

Also, note that the airdam and spoilers are covered in high performance/wear vehicle wrap.

I will be posting questions here to some specific questions that were asked:
The speedo was changed to MPH.
The trunk spoiler hardware is mounted through the trunk.
I have the VIN tag, and it's in good condition, I just removed it when I was stripping the sound deadening material.
The car is for sale on a number of firums, and the auction may be ended early if it sells elsewhere.
The factory air conditioning works, but it's a 40 year-old German car, so it's not the most powerful system. The only vents are in the center dash.
