How much would you guys pay for...

    An s50?

Would you buy a wrecked e36 or find an engine that's already been pulled?

Looking to do the swap...but not sure how much I should be looking at paying for just the engine

    a ZJ?

Why not check ebay listings for everything and take an average of the prices you see?

PM me for detailing services in the Longmont / Boulder Area in Colorado!

You could pay me $200 and I'll not refuse shipment.

I'd find someone selling one here on r3v. Then, I'd then send the seller a long winded email about how I have a very good buddy that has one for sale for one-third of the price, but I'd rather buy his. I'd then go into a diatribe how I'll be doing the seller a favour by buying his.

Then, once I got the seller to drop his price, I'd ask for a video, audio clip, and an oil sample sent to me via FedEx overnight. Once I've received it, I would continue to work on the seller to lower his price, eventually getting him down to 50% of the asking price.

During this 3rd week of negotiations, we would finally agree on a price(1/3 of the asking price) and I would then promise to pay him on the first of the month when I get paid from working at my uncle's machine shop (Oh, BTW, any of you guys want some custom parts that I'll never actually make?)

Two more moths go by, and I'll make all sorts of excuses why I haven't paid. I lost your email. My paypal got hacked. I lost my job. My wife won't let me. Time are ruff.

Now, since it's been four months since I first PM'ed him, I'll finally tell the seller I don't have the money. In fact I never did, I was just dreaming on an s50, and his ad pop'ed up. I eat cherrios and drink 40's. Not only could I not afford the motor, I couldn't even have afforded the shipping. But he didn't know that, so I got to dream about buying a motor for a couple months.

That is how you buy an s50 on R3v.

                        Nothing like a good rant.

I would not pay over $750 for an S50 unless I had actual proof that it ran nice, good compression, well maintained, etc.

They are expensive to repair, require specialized tools and skills to do anything significant. You want cheap and easy, rock the M20.

I was passively looking for an S52 for a while and then found a wrecked M3 for the price range I was looking to buy a motor/trans. I ended up making my money back plus some.

Buying a wrecked E36 M3 is definitely the way to go if you have the time and space to part the car out.

I know where there's a wrecked '98 vert being sold whole but it's a long ways from California.
