First 4 bangers, which isn't so bad considering BMW heritage, now this?

"BMW might make more front drive models in 5 years". Great reporting there.

Going by that site's math, they already make 8 FWD vehicles.

'Not all the FWD cars will wear the BMW roundel.'
I'm sure it will primarily be new minis and a couple BMWs. Not the end of the world. Every car manufacturer does something to boost sales in one field or another. BMW wants to sell to the people who buy $35k toyotas, VW's, and random hatchbacks/small SUVs. Its not like they are going to scrap RWD all together.

Porsche made the cayenne to get into SUV sales.
                  Lamborghini now has AWD
rumors of Aston Martin 4 doors
And the list goes on... As long as we still have RWD M cars ill be happy.

All BMW would be doing is diluting their glorious past but making more of these abominations. and i'm sticking with the e30 being the last truly great car made by bmw, though the e46 m3 isn't bad.
                        Much wow

This argument doesn't hold any water with me. They are already competing with these cars with the 1 series and the lower-end 3 series EVERYWHERE but North America. BMW-NA just won't import them here because of some they don't think they will sell here. So apparently, instead of using what they have available already, they are going re-invent the wheel.

Stupid. Bring the 1 series hatch with a diesel and they'd have an instant hit.

                              Keep it slideways!!
