    e46 cheap to own?

wondering if a new 3 series is less of a hassle to own. Given my recent accident with my mtech, I dont really feel like driving it as a daily anymore.

Yes, they're solid cars. Buy the newest one that you can. Avoid early e46 coupes as they had subframe issues.

I'd pick up a 4-door Xi model if I were you.

330i ZHP. Just saw a nice one on CL in DFW. 13.4k which is a decent price. 89k miles I think.

I like my e46 just fine. Different than e30 obviously, but nice. I DD my e30 though. And always will.

Damn thats freaken cheap! I bought my mtech for 7.5k about 7years ago!

I know a e46 m3 is a different territory, but I see they are around the 20k range now too. Hmm so tempting

I have an e46 330xi and love it, yes very different then the e30 but a joy to drive and not to expensive to own, very easy to work on as well.

I DD an E46 Touring and love to drive it. You can easily do most of the prevenative maintenance too. Not really sure what you're into but an E46 anything is a very good choice for a DD. Like state earlier though stay away from the early ones though. Don't short cut yourself on it either. Get the sport package, premium package, or the cold weather package. Get it loaded with every option you can. You won't regret it. I have the sport and the premium on my wagon and the only thing I wish I had was heated seats, however you can't get the heated seats unless you have the cold weather package, and you can't get both the sport and cold weather on the same car. Or something like that. If it snows a lot where you are then go with the Xi which will automatically put you into a cold weather package.

Basically what I'm trying to say is there are so many possibilities with these cars it's rediculous.

Good luck hunting and keep us posted.

I'm not 100% sure of this.

Maybe you mean 'Cold Weather Package' ? If so, yes, you can get CWP with ZSP.

My dad bought a 2002 330xi 4door in 2004 and had it for 4 or 5 years. I dont recall it ever having to go into the shop for anything out of the ordinary. It was a pretty solid car. Maintenance costs may be more than a japanese car, but theyre pretty reliable.
