NY/NJ guys: Where to stay for a couple nights while visiting

The woman and I will be taking the touring down to Jerz in a few months and going into NYC for a couple day tours (She's never been). We have one night planned in NJ, and what I'm wanting to do is find somewhere (SAFE) to park the car in NJ and then ferry over to the city to see the sights and then come back over to NJ for the night so preferably somewhere close to NJ ferry terminals.

Any suggestions on where to stay/go/do on the way or while in the area? I'm already planning to hit up Gutenparts, Bav Auto on the way home, stop by RamGoat's place in Brooklyn, Statue of Liberty, Times Square (gf might like it), Central Park, all the typical tourist spots.
For all things 24v, check out Markert Motorworks!

Theres a hotel in edgewater near the ferry where you can stay and park while taking the ferry over. The name of the hotel escapes me

Edit: Homewood Suites in Edgewater, NJ

Hit up a few restaurants...i like Victors Cafe (Cuban cuisine) in Manhattan
Plataforma (Brazilian), Tao, Asia de Cuba

Nightlife go to Meat Packing District
Gansevoort hotel, Cielo, Hogs and Heifers, Brass Monkey

Comedy club: Gotham City or Carolines (pricey)

Hit up the Brooklyn Brewery (never been myself but heard good things)

Oh, and be ready to drop some money here cuz this shit aint cheap.

    Enjoy!

Everyone has their favorite spots in NYC - here are mine...

Restaurant: Arturos. Simple, reasonably priced, good, Italian food with lots of character. Make sure you use the bathroom at least once. 106 W. Houston

Bar: Rudy's Bar & Grill. Free hotdogs and a guaranteed sampling of NYC's best. 627 9th Ave.

Margaritas: El Sombrerors. I challenge you put down more than 5 and walk away. 108 Stanton St.

The tourist stuff is fun, but to get a real flavor for NYC you need to put at least one of these places on your list.

          1) Park touring at my house
          2) Leave keys in my mail box
          3) I "keep an eye on it"
          4) ???
          5) Profit

Seriously, I don't know where in Jersey you can leave it but here are some awesome things to eat/do while you're in town.

          Classic New York Chinatown: http://nymag.com/listings/restaurant...ny_noodletown/

AMAZING Steamed Pork Buns (seriously, this will be my last meal): http://www.momofuku.com/restaurants/noodle-bar/

          Good Italian (you'll need a reservation): http://www.luparestaurant.com/

And if you want to impress the wife: http://www.gramercytavern.com/

Central Park is great. I would pass on the Statue of Liberty. Go to the Museum of Natural History or the Met instead.
