how come blunt completely skipped over the e36?

I've never understood the BMW hate on this site. I have three E36s that start EVERY time. They are fast, reliable and fun to drive. I learned to drive using my brother's E21 BMW 320i. I always wanted an E36 M3 so I bought one. I wanted an E24 M6 so I bought one. the same deal with my other two E36s and the E46 I bought for the wife. If you don't like a car whether it is a Lamborghini or a Kia; don't buy one. I think that is pretty a simple concept. Most E36s I see are daily driven, bone stock cars that thier owners are pretty happy with; not cars with muffler coming through the trunk and out the rear fender.

We are all here because we love BMWs first and foremost. of course, some of you probably believe that you will never desire to drive anything but an E30. That may prove to be true; but it is more likely that you will branch out to different platforms and find out the the engineers at BMW never lost thier knack for making awesome driving cars.


P.S. I have learned a lot about E30s, E28s and E24s by wrenching on them with LDSbeaker over the last few years. Our cars all have their good and bad points. That is all.

I always thought the E36 "hate" was partially a long running joke. I think E36s can be pretty bad ass when done right, but even worse than an bad E30 when done wrong. I can't lie, though, I'd rock the shit out of an E36 M.

S54 M Coupe solves the hatred problem. It's got a little bit of everything. E46 engine, DSC; E36 front suspension, gear box, brakes; E30 rear suspension, single ear diff. More badass then all of them IMO, but I'm biased :-)
