    Just picked up my E30

    picked her up last week.
    1987 325i auto trans. 200k miles.

i fell in love at first sight!

my name's Devon, kinda obvious. i'm in MD, full time student.
just ordered some maintainance parts and am gonna do all that once they arive( ignition tune up).

i believe in self preservation, but am also a procalimed adrenaline addict, so the too very much clash and keep me balanced.

i was part of another forum, quit that due to the lack of activity, have been peeking in R3V for a little bit, seemed like a good source of info and i noticed it has local meet-ups.

if anyone is around my area and wouldn't mind teaching me a little bit or helping me do my tune up, that'd be great.

    thanks guys,
    -Devon

    Welcome to R3V!

The rules are simple...you rice out your car, we'll bash you. You properly mod your car as well as doing routine maintenance and don't post a bunch of questions without searching first, you'll fit in just fine.

The automatic will clash with this. Whenever you get the funds or the free time, holler at one of the guys on here for a 5-speed swap. It takes a full day and cost about $500 on average.

One thing I will warn you about if you haven't read already, you can NOT rev that engine with the car in park or neutral. Unless the forward clutch pack seal or whatever has been re-sealed and tapped, this will cause premature wear of the clutches and there goes your drive. But in all seriousness, try not to take the engine above 3k RPM. I think it's 3K. (if I don't know what I'm talking about someone here will correct me.)

Other than that, welcome and enjoy that E30. PICS!

          uh oh!
so i thought i just needed to put gas in it, the other day i started her up and she rev'd up and down, rubmled, shut it off.
          turned back on and died.

          gas gauge was low.

put some gas from can in, same thing happened...i'm worried to say the least....
drove fine when i bought it...what could it be?

oh and i have no intention of "ricing" it out.

how low is the gauge? running the car with no gas will wear the fuel pump out. You could have killed it.

describe it dying. does it shut right off after you start it? Make sure it has plenty of gas before further diagnosing it.

...and Mike will come over and "period correct" your toilet....

EDIT: Your problem dying could be many things but start with:

              fuel delivery
              spark
              relays
              grounds

Report back. Someone will assist you.
