Car died while driving, any ideas?

Alright so I was driving down the highway and my car started to act funny I was pushing I. the gas and the engine wasn't really accelerating at all and eventually it just died. So I pulled over to the side of the road and now it won't start back up at all. When I turn the key to start the car it doesn't even make a noise. Any ideas?

alternator took a crap, so you sucked all the juice from your battery, and now its dead. buy alternator and prob a battery.

      ....

also try tapping/banging on your starter while someone tries to turn the key and start the car.

could be a loose ground on the starter.

          Alternator issues.

Chances are it was just the carbon brushes shitting the bed.
Before you go spend 300 on a refurbished unit, check those brushes.

Brushes are part of the voltage regulator.

This happened to me and along with the more likely suggestions above, mine was caused by one of the battery cables coming off of the battery.
