    What is this for? 89 535i

    i have an 89 535i and it is currently running like crap. It bogs and almost dies when you press the gas pedal past about an 1/8 the way down.

    Was just wondering what this is for and wondering if it might be causing the problem as it looks like there is a piece of wire sticking out it. hmm.. anyway, here are the pics, sorry for the quality, took them with my phone.

          do some much needed regular maintenance, that should probably take care of it. based on the condition of those rubber hoses, the car could use some...
