1: you need a 13button obc to view data like that
2: it would take extensive wiring for it to actually work as intended, but you can make it light up when you press the test button fairly easily, find a switched power source and ground and splice it in.

Your picture is one thing and post content another. The 318is/i "OBC" is really just your glorified digital clock that can display the date and the outside temp. It also has a time/date/temp memory funtion, that's about it. Here's an actual on board computer with MPG calculation (originally n/a for m42 cars):

OBC is the thing with the check button that goes in front of the sunroof? how come the 325i has an MPG reading and the 318is doesn't..

You can use any 13 button OBC in your 318is.

I have installed a 13 button OBC and cruise control in my 318is.
It works great.

We have a stealthy one, all it shows is the srs light and if your seatbelt is unbuckled, it's black if everything is in working condition.

Yeah I think the one with the white lines is cooler, the blank one looks out of place IMO. Feels like a missing option if you know what I mean.
