    going to europe....

    for a while...


    Want to send back some tourings, been reading the govt stuff and I do not speak that language, from what I can tell the late e30's are close enough to US spec that you can import...am I reading that right??

    Any help/info with the import process would be appreciated.

    everyone will tell you "do not bother and just enjoy your trip". do not waste time on trying to get parts due to hard time at junkyard and that is if you find one.

      If you're not VERY familiar with importing laws I would not suggest you even try. World of pain.

      Just enjoy your trip.

          A high level overview of importing a 3.8 M5 can be found here...



          Pretty similar process for a E30 M3 Sport Evo or the like. I read up on all the info on Will's site and then called a couple RI's myself before importing my 3.8 M5 back in early 2002.

          Bringing in parts is much easier and Deutsche Post shipping land/sea option can get big items back to the US for a very reasonable amount of $$. I've imported a set of E34 Alpina wheels via this method.

            Yes, last time I went for 4 months did not do any junkyarding...sent a few enfo parts back...had a 4 month vacation from cars. I want a touring and have several friends who have expressed interest...
