Parts for the 5spd swap should cost around $500. Then it's a matter of either paying someone to do it or finding a place to do it yourself (not sure if you have a garage). It can easily be done for under 1k, especially since there are plenty of Getrag260s available in our area, you just need to look: for instance there is a G260 for sale for 100bux in VA.
You should come out to the Weekly College Park meet this friday and we can help you out.

You can get a complete swap on here or another forum with everything you need and in known working condition for $450. Then go get the front end of the driveshaft for $25.
I've done it with just a Ratcheting wrench, extensions, and sockets in only 2hrs. The first time took me about 5hrs. but look at enough r3vand you can do it pretty easily and fast. The longest part was bleeding the clutch.
why? how does a 5sp make the car any better?
i'm not hating, this is a serious question that pertains to my future plans.
Check 0-60 times for stick and automatic versions of our cars. If you want to be more inviolved in the driving aspect (which I assume you do, since you want to modify/swap the engine) then its pretty much the only option in terms of any shred of sportiness. You can also control how efficient your car is to an extent, and Im not sure how much power the auto-box can take. I just find it odd that youd want to go faster, but you wouldnt want to first switch to a stick before putting in larger engine.
