Higher amp alternators work as intended but may not be the answer in all cases.
Yes they crank out more amps but in return they also siphon more power away from your engine.

I have the bigger alternator on my M20 powered E34. It is a nice upgrade IMO.

I think you should do it, and that is a sweet writeup.

            Props to the Author!

I need a 140A 24V alternator myself, or I would add that to my M20.

I currently have 1200 watts RMS, but am adding another 1200 watts later.

Fortunately, my load won't increase much, as the current Class A/B 1200 watts is going to be mids and highs (300X2 RMS to 2 8" in the dash, 150X4 RMS to a pair of 3" and a pair of tweeters) so they won't draw as much as they do currently, and the sub amp I am switching to (Exile XP1200.1) even on a 1 ohm load won't draw that much, as it is a true Class D amp.

But dual battery, for sure. This will be the heaviest E30 on the planet.

            Closing SOON!

              Hmm?

24V? What interesting stuff you have in mind for that?
