Just installed Lsd yesterday hearing some noises.

So I finally got my LSD installed yesterday and it's awesome! My car is massively quicker and handles much better but sometimes when going around corners i will hear a slight chirp i want to say but maybe a clunk. Also when I get to about 75mph I start to hear a pretty audible whirring/whining noise from the diff which I never heard with my open diff. (I heard whirring from the open diff too but it was different whirring noise)

Any thoughts or reasons why this is happening would be awesome.

try replacing the fluid first, if not then maybe your output bearings are bad.

    good read

I just put brand new fluid in. Super quality fluid too. Motul 75w140 specially formulated for lsd's. I'm gonna guess it's the output bearings. Yeah I definitely looked at this article a couple times while I was working on it. How much are output bearings to replace?

        About 20 bucks.

I bought everything from these guys BimmerSpecialist.com. If you are doing the bearings replace the seals and o-rings. Those are 20 something year old seals, they need to be replaced.

Here is my rebuild thread, showing the internals and other stuff. I could only take a few pictures of before and after my work. Because my hands were covered in grease striper or new grease/LSD fluid.

I already replaced the output shaft seals while I was in there, just didn't know my bearings would need replacing at the same time...I'm gonna wait awhile before I pull that stupid thing out again. It was way too much of a chore to do it this past week as is. I don't think it's immediately vital I replace them right now so I'm gonna leave them for a while.
