a few pieces from my alpina collection of parts

ever since i bought my first e30, i fell in love with alpina e30s. i just dig everything about them. so, about 2 years ago, i decided to build my own tribute and started collecting parts. mostly ebay.de and uk, but anywhere i can get my hands on something useful. i decided that the ultimate car is one that alpina most likely never produced. they had an m3 version called a b6 3.5s. i am going a step further and plan to build a b6 3.5s convertible. i haven't had a lot of time to work on the car, but when i finish with this home renovation that has been taking up all my spare time for the last year and a half, i am going to hit the car hard. a project build thread will follow.

the vent gauge just arrived in the mail the day before yesterday.

since m3 verts came from the factory with no spoiler, i felt the alpina type 157 would be appropriate. i plan to strip the vinyl off the hardtop and paint it the body color.

i had a cow catcher front valace but i sold it because 3.5s's used the factory m3 bumper. i think it will last longer since it doesn't stick down as far and will be less likely to get broken. i also had an alpina dash cluster, but i ended up selling that because i elected to go with the m3 cluster instead.

in addition to what is pictured above, i also have a finned diff cover, a set of e36 factory alpina wheels (from the uk) and a few other things. i still need a handful of items, but most of the big stuff is ready to be put on the car when i have time for it.

here is my donor car. yes it was wrecked in the rear, but it came with an extra set of quarter panels and a good rear bumper. i don't care that the five lug suspension is missing because i already have mz3 5 lug from my s52 part out.

how did dexter get in here?

Reproduction Vin tag and dash tags, who they look very decent who was making those?

Nice 157, I have one of those as well was trying to decide if I wanted to go that route at one time but without the senior six.

You can find some pretty nice alpina roundels on ebay my friend. I would LOVE to see this project when you are done!

those vin tags are not reproductions i don't believe. they came from the other side of the pond ebay. i think if they were fakes, you would see more of them pop up from time to time. those are the only ones i have seen.

i know what you are saying about the m30. i already have an s52 transplanted in my car and plan to upgrade to an s54 one day. its not going to be a completely original tribute car. more like a restomod with original bmw parts. i have a really nice set of mz3 seats that are going in. gonna have the back seat reupholstered to match.

not positive, but i am pretty sure those alpina roundels are not original alpina parts. all alpina cars that i have seen come with standard bmw roundels. they do look cool, though.

Well, the m3 has a salvage title, it was missing the complete drivetrain, and the back seat. All this, and it was hammered in the rear end. Seems to me a good candidate fr a cabrio donor. Not to mention, I Already sold off almost all the parts I'm not intending to use.

Don't get me wrong, I love m3's just as much as the next guy. Its just that I would have to put about 12-15k into a car that would still have a gimped title. I want to build something uncommon. I have other ideas for the car as well that haven't been mentioned in this thread.
