Those things that go on the inside of the windshield to block out the sun

Does anyone know the proper term for this? I tried searching for various terms and I can't get anything. I'm talking about the things that you put on the inside of the windshield when parking your car in the sun so it doesn't get hot or to protect the leather or dash or whatever your reason for it may be.

Also, are these one size fits all? Anyone know where I can get a nice BMW one for my e30 if they make them?

Just get a normal sized one, and I'd recommend one of the reflective foil ones, they work GREAT. I don't park my car when it's sunny out for more than a few minutes without one.

A few BMW dealers have them for sale with the BMW logo in the front.

I bought the one above from Pelican about two years ago. Looks nice, fits well, comes with a handy storage sleeve.

I'm got one of those BMW ones, it collapses in the middle and ends up resting on the steering wheel. I like it and I'm working on a way to make it stay in place, but I have to say for the price the ones Janderson is taking about are hard to beat and easy to come by.

I'm with Janderson.. I have a cheapie foil sunshade for my e30. I got it at autozone for less than $10, and it's been the best bang for your buck. The BMW ones work well also, but they are pricey.

Unless you have an e46, then you pretty much need an OEM sunshade because the dash is so damn deep.

same thing kind of happened to the one i had in my Audi. the trick is when you end up "wrapping" it to put it away so you have to wrap it shiny side in. it becomes concave to the window over time. then just pressure on the rear view mirror with keep it in place forever ever ever ever ever.

                      i wonder if a b6 a4 OEM sun reflector would fit in a e30...

I have the OEM one, got it for $50 from the dealer a several years ago. Works well but I don't use it much.

The regular sized foil fold-ups that they sell at O'Reilly/Wal-Mart work pretty well for <$10. Could stand to be a bit taller, but the width is nice for covering the E30's dash if you cram the corners in, which is the important part.

The pop-up/out ones that fold into a circle don't cover the dash corners as well. I still sometimes prop them up in the back in the summer, but it's not ideal.
