Cali title question. Kind of random.

Here's the deal, buying a car in Cali. Registering it In Illinois. The original owner died and I'm buying it from his wife/son. But they never transferred the title to the wife or son.

The problem is that I can only get it on a weekend, and they want to go to "aaa" to transfer it directly to me. I won't be registering it in Cali at all. So i kind of want to suggest that the son sign it and be done with it.

See here in Illinois we have really lax rules compared to ca. If I show up with the signed title and 100$ they'll get me a new title in 2 weeks.

So.. Someone in Cali hopefully, couple questions. Did they say "AAA" on accident and meant the DMV? Or are they somehow related there?

Does anyone think this would be something really wrong to do to ask them to ask for him?

I assume in Cali you hold your actual title just like everywhere else right? Ok thanks, suggestions are very welcome, I don't want to have to postpone picking it up by two days and delay my departure if I don't have to.

AAA does DMV registration there. They shoudlnt have to do that unless its maybe because of them not being on the pink slip title ?

yeah, i assume they're just not on the title and because of that can't sell me the car.. but they said it'll take weeks to transfer the title to one of them, as well as probably a little money.

I really hope they'll just sign it and give it to me.. i hate hang ups.. I mean i'd have to stay there two extra days just because of it. not that I'm complaining, it is california.
