I have that exact one in my car, I love it! I have never gotten a ticket when it was on, and it has defiantly saved me from a few. For the price I don't think you can beat it.

so its a good bandaid until i can afford the escort or a V1?
1/2 a mile is good. i only need a few seconds to get back on the speed limit.
and i dont really speed in the city, so that doesn't worry me.Comment

@90 mph a 1/2 mile detection range will give you 20 seconds of warning before you are on top of the officer. And IIRC the max distance they can get a reading at is around 1/4-1/8 of a mile, so you really only have 10-15 seconds before getting clocked. Now if they always ran constant on radar and only drove on straight open roads, you would be fine.
Now for a V1 it's not uncommon for them to get 3 mile detections and is sensitive and responsive enough that you might pick up instant on and QT radar. I've seen videos of 10 mile detections on flat open roads.
Now since the V1 is out of your budget, I would recommend taking a look at the the 8500 X50. I've never owned one, but I've heard they are one of the best options in that price range.
Here are some test results including the V1, 8500 X50, and a slightly different model cobra.

WOW, In Ontario Canada, You are required to have your electronic toll thing attached to your windshield, OR IT IS A FINE. same as NY state, PA and OH (the states I use to run) our toll things, had to be up on the windshield, or it was a BIG fine for us truckers.
My experiences in the states compared to Canada, our speeding fines are less and State troopers have NO sense of humour. FYI if your in Ontario and you speed by more then 50 Km/h over the limit (30 MPH) You loose your license for a week on the spot and your car is impouned for a week.
