    What additives do you use?

I use red line waterwetter in all my cars. I will add it in even before I do a flush.

Winter, I will from time to time use STP octane booster in the fuel. Not long ago I tried STA-BIL after a friend who also has BMW's told me it help keep his O2 sensors from fouling so often, did not seem to help.

Have not used an oil additive in a long time.

Thought this might be interesting topic to see what you all use in your cars. Might be time to change what I use.

everything i have read says octane boosters do NOTHING!
the amount they actually ad is so minimal. you are better off just mixing race gas and 93 octane.

some sonoco's carry higher octane gas, up to 97 i believe. i used to run it in my R6 if i was going on a day trip or a run.

i did seafoam once, definately helped!

    what exactly does waterwetter do?

Nothing. Quality fuel and a good maintenance schedule is working fine for me. No problems in about half a million miles spread out between the 3 Germans.

I did use octane booster once in highschool and it fouled up the plugs, had to run down the tank and give it a tuneup.

octane booster adds about .1 octane to a tank of fuel. its complete shit and will actually induce carbon buildup on the head of your pistons and valves over time. you might think your car is running better but its actually raising your compression over a period due to so much build up. that is why when manufacturers recommend an octane level, YOU USE IT. Premium fuel doesn't exactly mean it will make your car run better just bc it's a higher octane. example: try putting 93 octane in a stock air-cooled motor. shit, even 89 octane. I dare you.

There are additives I would recommend for transmissions and diffs. that's about it.

Water Wetter for my M42 radiator'd M50. Seems to do something, though I never had a comparison to contrast it against.

The occasional cup or two of diesel fuel in the oil before an oil change.

AAAnnd..thats it. I also put gas in my gas tank. Shit works great.

'Band aid' or miracle's in a bottle are for the most part just snake oil. For hundreds of years, cars have worked just fine with gasoline, oil, antifreeze, and brake fluid. Your local autozone hasn't reinvented the wheel just yet. I stick with the basics. My machine runs as it was intended; no more, no less.

Everything out there is shit. If you feel the need to pay for a bottle of "gasket sealer" you shouldn't be driving an old BMW. or any car really. The only thing worth paying anything for is Lucas. It actually stiffens the viscosity of oil especially for daily drivers who sit in traffic with the ac on. Or the Lucas for the auto tranny when it starts slipping or leaking. Also good for noisy Getrags, other than that... It's all bullshit.

whats the boards opinion on FI cleaners? I've heard good things about technron....all the others ones heard were junk, I know seafoam has visual results with the exhaust, dunno how much it actually helps in the intake though

Stanadyne performance fuel add........... water demulsifier (pulls H2O out of suspension so the filters get it, rather than break it up more and pass it thought the rest of the fuel system), cetane booster, Lubricity agent, anti gel and fuel stabilizer, every fill up and in the winter if its really cold the green bottle of pour point improver (anti gel). But I drive a Diesel.

No other additives used at all in anything.

hightest and highway driving back and forth to work to the tune of 500 miles a week. no additives. 300,000 miles and going strong. uses about a 3/4 of a qt between oil changes. not to thread jack, but if i was to try seafoam, what is the best vacume line to introduce it through?
