Low fuel light was on and I wanted to fill her up. Drive to the gas station, and go to take off the gas cap, and there is a lock on it. First time I have needed to since I bought it with a full tank. Spare keys and gas cap key at home.


But I am curious WHY THE FUCK does a BMW with a locking fuel door needs a locking gas cap. Women :roll:

My 87 325is had one of those locking gas cap thingies, a crow bar took quick care of it.

My eta actually had the locking gas cap too...dealer option around the NYC metro area where a lot of gas was stolen from cars....that was the PO's reason anyway....

yeah, weird it is a factory part. but the fuel door is locked. i guess it could be pried open....

anyway. i'm getting a plastic one from Stu. so problem solved

it was an actual key lock?
i know when i lock my doors there is a rod that holds (locks) the gas door shut...to open it if your locks fail there is a thing you push in the trunk
