    how much paint

anyone know how much paint you need to paint (just flat prime ) a car?

dude at the store said a gallon...but that seemed like a lot

i know one gallon will paint four walls
i painted a whole pool with 3 gallons (5 gal of primer)

so a whole gallon seems like way too much...

    thoughts..?

when I paint a car I always get a gallon and quart (extra if you need and mixed in the same batch for repairs and touch ups)

When I painted my e30 it just a thouch shy of a gallon of PPG Base pigment in bronzit, plus the thinner and hardener. (this was just a Body respray, Not a full strip the whole car of every nut and bolt paint it all)

In short your guy is right

              made me lol.

OP, a gallon should suffice for just a prime job.
