    M60 Swap (Exhaust Question)

I have looked at countless m60/m62 video's and can't find an exhaust I like. I'm requesting any information, expirience, or video's you have to offer. Obviously there are many different variables that come into play with this motor, but ideally I'd like it to sound like an old school v8 if at all possible.

Straight pipe'd sounds like shit, magnaflow sounds like a honda fart can, eisenmann sounds decent, but I expect more than decent for 2k, and I have the same opinion of remus as I do for esienmann.

I'd like it to create a sound along the lines of a 5.0 mustang or even an ls1, without actually having to transplant one. I already have an 06 goat at my disposal, so I am pretty set at keeping it a BMW motor. However, the exahust options just aren't doing it for me, I don't want a v8 that sounds like an i6.

magnaflows don't sound like a 4 cyl...check the e34 section on bfc for suggestions as well ;)

m62 sounds nice and deep with x pipe and resonators even with no mufflers

It will never sound like a 5.0 Mustang. Nothing else does. I always loved that I could hear one passing by and know what it was before even looking.

If you're doing the swap purely for the sound then why not put a 5.0 or an LSx in?

Click my sig to hear mine, it doesn't sound like either of those but it doesn't sound bad

IMO they do lol. Maybe not literally, but I wouldn't want my finely tuned german engineered car sounding like a honda.

Very true, 5.0's sound incredible. I know it would be hard to duplicate that sound, but is there anything like it?? Ideally I want an old school choppy nasty ass cammed sound.

It's not strictly for sound, but I feel if I'm making a $4-$5k investment in a v8 swap, it needs to sound tits and not like there's rice stuck in my muffler. An ls1 is option two, but I'm not sure if I can handle two lsx's for my daily drivers, I'd like to keep the bmw-bmw.

Sounds like you just need some "nasty ass cams" then :)

Um? No...As I said, it's not strictly for sound, why is my motive so misunderstood? With a 5k investment, and having to sit in it every single day, I don't want it turning out like this:

Therefore, I'm trying to plan ahead. I think that it's a reasonable expectation and goal to not have a v8 sound like like an m20.

Homemade manifolds and piping, ram srt10 resonator and a Brullen (german magnaflow pretty much) muffler.

It's not hard to make them sound good, it's just a different sounding engine than the american versions.
