    Bought a 87 325e; Need help modding.

I bought 87 with less than 125K! It has a tear in the driver seat and a small amount of surface rust on the bottom of the car.

I brought it home on Sunday, and realized very quickly that I can't live without keyless enty. So on Monday I got keyless added. By Tuesday I realized I can't go with out iPod connection to a HU. So I ordered myself a new Alpine bluetooth unit (I am a HUGE audio guy). So my build will have alot to do with my audio installation.

I will be buying a MarkD chip soon!

I need to drop this car! What do I need. I want to do this cheap! It is a cheap car in all!

    PLEASE HELP!

Pic after I brought it home:

What should a shop charge for that. I would try, but that is probably a little outside what i want to do.

They will want you to put in a new tensioner and water pump. $400 to $500 at a shop. Search its not that hard a job. you have to take your time and do it right.

Where do you all buy your parts from? Is there a kit to buy?

Timing belt first. I paid about 625 for a shop to do it the first time on my old 86 because I didn't have time to do it myself.

The second 86 I just bought I did on my own for about 200. The 200 included ALL coolant hoses, t-stat, t-belt, tensioner, water pump, and new v-belts. Took a day, but it wasn't hard at all. Follow the write up on Pelicanparts.com

I order all my parts from autohausaz.com, good quality stuff, cheap, fast, and free shipping on orders $50 or more.

Mark-D chip is the best upgrade for the ETA.

Not going on without an ipod connection I can understand. BUT can't live life without keyless entry? THAT is weird.

Dear lord what a clean example. You southern states and your rustless cheap E30's annoy me.

+1 on timing belt. Costs 100 bucks for the core parts at BMA (Water pump, tensioner, belt, drive belts, and three seals)
                  +1 on doing it yourself

I have never not had keyless entry.

                          Car looks good.
Old school advice,...look around at what everyone else is doing then make up your own mind on what you should do with your car.

So what parts do I need other than:

                            Timing belt
                            Timing Tensioner
                            Water pump

                            Any help would be appreacited!

I plan to do this next weekend.

buy an s50 and get rid of the m20.

                              Voila no timing belt.
