Who's running an aftermarket cooling fan?

Specifically, one the can be used with the OEM fan switch on the radiator fr m20's? Most aftermarket fans are set up to use a two pin connector and the fan switch on later m20's is 3-pin. I would like to avoid hacking up my dash and using a fucking toggle switch every time to turn it on. I'm having fitment issues.... Copied from my build thread:

guys, I've hit an issue with air flow. I have two options and the amount of space is SLIM. This pertains to mounting the oil cooler and cooling fan. I can mount two ways.... From the firewall up:

    Radiator/Cooling Fan/Oil Heat Exchanger OR.....

    Radiator/Oil Heat Exchanger/Cooling Fan

Now, Option 1 issue I see...
The oil cooler cool comes extremely close to the cooling fan's center lock nut. 2nd issue with this option that comes up is flow characteristics.... Having the oil cooler in front of the fan will create a lot of wind turbulence between the radiator and oil cooler.
Benifits: Ease of installation/un-install. Turbulence will not hinder performance of vehicle aside from higher speed track events(which I rarely see since I'm an autoX guy... but still).
    Mock up:

    Option #2: Issues...
I will have to fabricate a bracket to mount the bottom of the cooling fan to the core support. Relatively speaking, there aren't very many mounting locations the top of the cooling fan as well. Installation will be a pain in the ass.
Benefits: Turbulence will be minimal, if at all.

Thoughts? Did I answer my own question? Am I trying to justify being lazy, lol? Fuck.

There are 2 wires running in to your stock aux fan after the resistor. Snip wires, solder to new fan. Done.

i can tell from above, that you put a lot of time into composing this thread, but but there are tons and tons of threads already about this especially in the swap section. if you search you will learn more about this subject than you could ever even think to think to think to think to ask.

I did search and I understand it's easy enough to just splice the wire and use the AC button but when the temp reaches a certain level, doesn't the fan just kick on anyway? what do I do with that extra brown wire..?

OP- You have 3 wires b/c you cut the harness before the OE fan resistor.

My build thread which is linked below has a write up of what fan I used, how I wired it, and how it fit with my a/c condenser, radiator, AND oil cooler.

Ahhhh, ok ok I get it now. Thank you Corvallis and bimmerteck. The oil cooler was just an upgrade. I was tired of my stock oil cooler lines always leaking(3rd set I've been through) and its been proven that the stock oil cooler doesnt really amount for shit. I have a wholesale discount at Earls Indy so the heat exchanger was dirt cheap. The whole setup was less than a brand new unit & lines.

No problem, I changed my post once I saw your still running an m20 ;) as they generally run higher oil temps than m50s so that cooler's probably about right, for your setup it just looks bigger in the "installed" pics.
