    this cant be good

so while tidying up my engine bay the other day i noticed that 2 of the 3 strut tower nuts/bolts on the passenger side were loose. When i say loose i mean when i move the bolt, the nut moves with it. Idk wtf happened, but it cannot be good. How do i fix this? do i need a new strut housing?

the ones circled in red are the loose ones. (pic was taken before i noticed the problem, there is no tower brace on now)

Maybe it's just the strut mount? You'd have to pull the whole assembly to replace it but at least you wouldn't have to replace the whole strut.

how bad is it to continue to drive with it like this? 1 of the nuts/bolts is still perfectly in tact.

im going to replace it, but idk when ill be able to considering this crappy weather and my hectic work schedule.

You'll probably be ok, just keep an eye on it and take it easy. I don't think I'd be trying to go off any jumps like them Duke boys either, haha.

So what exactly do you mean by "mean when i move the bolt, the nut moves with it"? Are the studs in the strut mount turning or are the nuts just loose? Why can't you just tighten the nuts?

The Bearing studs are loose? Sketch i would just buy two new bearings and upgrade the steering at the same time!

you need to replace the upper strut mount or find a way to tighten them up. You could just buy some of the same size nuts and bolts and replace them for example.

Might want to just try hammering the bolts back up from underneath, they have splines. Could get away with just that.

wow, i did word that poorly. The studs that come up though the strut tower are feel like they are broken off at the base, or not screwed in. When i try to tighten the nuts the whole stud moves with it. Not just spinning with the nut, i can actually move them left/right.

This, but it sounds like the studs may have worn their holes in the strut mount out. Time for camber plates!

since i cant afford camber plates right now, will i have any issues driving the car as is?
