This is good advice. Good luck man, You should be able to pick and choose what you want... even spending only $5 or 6 thousand.-Nick

A lot of insurance companies will not offer full insurance on salvage cars, in California most will only offer Liability.
This may be a worry for you if invest 7 grand into a car and it gets smashed or stolen.
The most important thing about salvage cars is to find out why they were salavaged; accident or theft.

I'd buy a $1k car with a clean title on craigslist and thedn put $6k in to it. You will enjoy the car more if you build it yourself.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

Depends on what your goals are. What are you looking for in an e30?
If I'm not busy I wouldn't mind lending a hand or doing some work. Which e30's have you been looking at though? Not a heck of a lot of them on craigslist.Comment

My car is a salvage title. I forget that fact all the time. I have had the thing apart and have seen no eveidence of anything bent or repaired besides a repainted driver fender. Everything and looks performs normal. The P.O. claimed the salvage title was due to a lein, That was in California, I know they get real crazy about car laws over there so I am not sure whether that is legit or not, but nothing looks amiss so I am fine with it. I don't plan on ever selling it so that isn't an issue.Comment

I had an e30 with a salvage title and it was completely fine, but you should find out what the salvage title is from because that could make a difference.sigpicComment

Don't know if its still around, but there was a decent looking 90 or 91 325i coupe with manual transmission on craigslist for about 2300.thanks that would be great if you could lend a hand. most of the nice ones i have seen i would have to go to La to pick up which i dont mind seems most of the ones in Az have seen better days. so idk if i should buy one for 4k an put money into it or get one for 1500 and have to do alot of work to it. either way i have 7k to get it up a going as a nice dd i dont mind having to put money into as i go but 7k as an initial investment
I personally prefer to buy a car that needs some work and pour my blood, sweat, and hard earned cash into it. That way I have an appreciation for what I have, I know where I stand with it, and it is basically a blank canvas for me to do what I want with it.
I've always done this with cars, whether VW, BMW, or MG.
I also happen to have a bad habit of getting bored with the car when I'm done with it and selling or trading it for something I have to start all over with. ... It drives the wife crazy.Comment
