            Sucks for the owner!

A big-engined E30 will kick you in the ass pretty quickly if you're not driving it right. Anyone remember the video of the infamous LS1 E30 losing control and crashing into a tree? The extra weight in the front makes them unpredictable and hard to recover if you're not expecting it. Just the other day I nearly spun mine turning right onto a busy road in the rain.

Maybe this is one of those rare occurrences where shit happened and he couldn't get out of it. Maybe he has been driving for 20+ years like some of us without a wreck for 19 of those years due to driving courses, but given the populous of this site, I'm leaning towards a youngster with a V8 swap who was passing at a high rate of speed compared to the car being passed. They put themselves in a no win situation and lost. It sucks, but it happens.

At a 10mph pass, you would hit the car in front of you in 1 second if they pull in front of you with a 15 foot gap. I would estimate that it would take you one second to react and move your foot to the brake pedal and which point you will start slowing down. Basically, you are going to hit them, and that's the whole point - if someone pulls in front of you with a 15 foot gap they are trying to run you off the road.

But.... they were already moving. So unless he was hauling ass, I can't see how it.... whatever. Who cares, dude totaled his car.

Really? You think an alert driver is going to take a full second to put his foot on the brake when the car in front of him rapidly pulls out?

Think about how long a second is when it comes to instinctual reactions. I am not sure what geriatrics you have been driving with but if you are driving spiritedly up a mountain road, you are alert. You are not just lackadaisically dawdling along like the average soccermom.

Exactly, like doing some racing at your local kart track, trying to get times down or vs peaking. Those extra tenths and hundredths of seconds really suck.

An aluminum LS is very lightweight, and lighter than an m/s5X IIRC.

I've met Josh before, I'm pretty sure he works for Killboy. Shame to see that happen! I wonder if he remembers enough about the car he was attempting to pass - there are tons of photographers along the dragon - surely one of them snapped a pic of the culprits

Time to rust the car, bag it and chop the roof.

Read about this Thursday on the east tn riders forum. I was wondering how long before it would get posted up on r3v or e30tech.

Sure it wasn't one of those bear hunting redneck pricks?
