    phone wars

This thread is to help me decide which wireless carrier I should go with.

I find that verizon is lacking with there phones. There service rocks, none the less!

Here are a few phones that’s I have been looking at.
If you have had any personal experience with the phones and there carriers please tell me the pros and the cons about them.

    Thank you
feel free to add other cell phones that i should look at.

ugh, my mom has that seimens phone and its designed for girls. Its all about stupid rings and pretyt colors. You have to pay to download a regular ringer.

Sprint sucks period, that is coming from the world HQ too. They use Nextel on the Sprint campus if that means anything.
    Im now E30less.

verison has great coverage and shitty service.

        all others have less coverage

start with looking at where you are calling from, do you go out of state, etc If your car breaks on a rural road cingular will not be there. COVERAGE COVERAGE COVERAGE

        the phone is only jewelry

First off, re-read your second grade english textbook on the proper usage of "their" and "there".

Second, we'd have to know what area you're looking to use the phone in. Carrier's vary in terms of service and coverage from region to region. Many people hate sprint, in my area, I happen to be happy with them, they tend to have good coverage and call clarity. That being said, Cingular & ATT are both dreadful in my area, as they are still stuck with their worthless TDMA network in many parts. Generally, what you want to look for is coverage area, overall cost of plans, minutes, etc, wheter or not it has a sort of data plan (big for me) and so on.

Chosing a service based on what phones they have is silly. If you are a male, and you worry about how small or "cool" your phone is, then you are a homosexual.

That siemens is really cool IMO. Its super slick and guranted to get you all the women.
I dont really like ATTs service but it gets the job done and their selection of phones is the best out there. Att gets my vote.

sprints coverage depends heavily on the phone and very little on the service. THe problem is they dont contract for quality phones. They look for something cheap they can discount for contracts.

I wasnt advertising nextel just makign a point about sprint here. I would go with someone who has quality phones and has good coverage in your area.

Sprint was great on the highway, they definately have the largest network. THe problem is I couldnt get reception in my house and in my office across the street from thier world HQ. Service is also the worst.

I disagree with Charlie on wanting a small phone making you a homo. I want a smaller phone so I have less to fuk with. That is why I chose NEXTEL. :?

you mean to say "can't" ...common misconception

I'm actually considering changing service from verizon because I want the sony ericsson t616 phone, and I don't get service at a house that I party at quite often. It seems every other carrier gets some kind of service there :?
I'm considering going to cingular, as everyone near where I live has great luck with it, but it totally depends on your area.

I thought I would shed some light on this topic...

I currently have Cingular. Their plans and service is very good, we currently have two phones, one for me and one for my mom. It is about $40 a month for both. The service includes about 600 anytime minutes, and 2500 night and weekend minutes. The anytime minutes seem low, but they do rollover. For the first two months we made barely any calls, and now have accumulated around 1500 anytime minutes. More than I need. The phones they offer are nice, they have a good selection.
Along with Bryson I am currently looking at the Sony Ericsson T616.

But the only problem I have with Cingular is upgrading my phone.
About 4 months ago I dropped my Nokia 3395 (the free phone that comes with the plan), it broke the screen, but I could still barely see the names in my contact book. And I can still make calls with it. I asked about upgrading, and they said to wait untill I have had my contract for a year, then I can upgrade for a cheaper price.

So I went into Best Buy today, and saw the T616. $149.99, or an additional $149.99 if I just want to buy the phone by itself (if I don't qualify for an upgrade). I fill out the forms and the guy calls Cingular and they said that I did qualify for my 1 year phone upgrade.....but their is some type of $36 fee that wont let me upgrade.
So now I have to wait untill tomorrow to call Cingular and ask them about this $36 fee.
The guy said it could be because of our plan (what we don't pay enough to upgrade my damn phone?!).
So if this doesn't get resolved, I guess I'll just buy a Cingular compatable T616 off ebay.
Screw paying $300 for a phone.

I'd go with a Kyocera phone, they gernally kick ass all around.

AT&T is one of the best, if not THE best providers, they have the
most global satelites in orbit, and the best overall coverage, after
them I'd go with, well, no one. lol. Stick with AT&T, if you go to a
booth for AT&T, notice they're the only ones not trying to mug
passersby, and there's a reason. Stay away from Nokia fones,
they're all cheap jap crap, btw.

customer service isn't so great, so I've heard, same with sprint.
Cingular is stingy about replacement/upgrade phones, also... but I want that damn t616. I spent about an hour playing with a friend's last night :)

A had a nokia 3390 and it worked fine. T-mobil has some decent plans, at least for me. I'm probably going to get another 3390 as a replacement. I lost mine on monday, plus I can get a free 3390 or 3550... I already got cases and stuff for a 3390 though :P
