Just drove the E30 for the first time in a couple months. Didn't make this noise back then, now every time I turn my wheel, it's a strange "straining" noise.
What's wrong with my steering/belts?

Check fluid level, check leaks, my guess is your pump or something is not forcing enough fluid through rackComment

Question #2
Once again, a few months ago when I parked it, the belts were silent. Started it up today and now they're squealing like no other.

Has it been sitting outside? See if the belts are loose, that could be one reason they are making racket. Also are the belts new? Props to a hella clean engine bay/engine =)~ Puch Cafe. ~ Do business? feedback ~ Check out my leather company ~

tighten the belts, if thats not enough, they make stuff for them called belt dressin, helps create frictionComment

Yeah that's what happened to my old Cadillac when it sat outside. The BMW has been garaged since November though. I'm not sure how old the belts are. I guess I better replace them though-better safe than sorry.
It just seemed strange that before they were silent, now they're loud as fcuk. I'll check out the local parts store, thanks for the reccomendation Matt.Comment
