    Hydrochloric Acid anyone?

My friend and I have an almost unlimited supply of this stuff. We added 50% water to a chemical bucket, then 50% of that stuff, followed by another bucket with nothing but soap to stop the reaction. We tried cleaning my motor arms since they were gunked to shit, but it ended up pitting the metal. Then we took an old rusty tool and dipped it in, and it got rid of all the rust and looked awesome, but it also wore away the zinc coating and now it's even more rusted to shit.
Any way of actually producing good results with this stuff?

        So 5% HCl, 95% water?

I've used something called Milkstone Cleaner - available from any Diary Supplies place. It's Phosphoric Acid. Diluted down to 15%, works wonders!

With any acid - it will eat the oxide, which would result in pitting tho.

Generally called Muriatic Acid in that form. Same thing, different name. Hardware stores will generally sell it too. I use it occasionally to etch circuit boards.

I think it is generally used with pools to adjust the pH of the water, not clean stuff.

Poor some (undiluted) into an empty 2 liter soda bottle, stuff some aluminum foil in there, put the lid on tightly, and RUN!
