    thermostat pics, is this right?

I have a used thermostat that i want to use to replace one that i think may be faulty, i was just wondering if it looks good in the pictures. i have not looked into one before and i am not sure if this is how it should look while cool and out of the car. just not sure if there should be that gap on the left side when looking into it. thanks for your help.

Take it out and look at it or test it by putting it in boiling waterz

Thermostats are tricky. I had a massive over heating problem for my car, it would over heat within 10-15 minutes. I opened my thermostat housing and it looked good, but i decided to replace it anyways because it was only 15 bucks. It fixed my problem and my car no longer over heats. My advice, change it. But after you change it, bleed the system of any air.

        water

i put this one in boiling water and it opened/closed, just was wondering if in this pic if this one is supposed to look like it does with the small gap on the left or is that little open gap not supposed to be there. i want to use this as its kicking around.

id say just replace it since its not to expensive. but if youd like give her a test go and if you still got issues just replace it. i'm about to replace mine even though my gauge reads correctly, theres just issues with over heating and i'd rather replace this before i go replacing my rad for like 100 bucks.
