    smokin like a sieve

ill start with yesterday and work backwards. keep in mind this is a stroked 325ix+turbo @ 8lbs. RWD block.

Yesterday i start my car in the morning to go to work and it seemed to be blowing lots of smoke. didnt worry too much since there is usually a little smoke in the mornings anyways. it stopped when the car got up to running temp on the road. when i leave work that afternoon it was smoking a lot more and didnt stop for the whole drive home. the smoke is pretty white, maybe a little blue. at this point im thinking headgasket or rings or valve guide seals. i dont have any coolant the oil and have no chocolate milk in my head or dirty looking coolant.

the night before i finished my wideband install. innovate lc-1. i downloaded the miller ms-1 turbo tune to my war chip and took it for a very short and pretty mellow drive. before i put this tune on there i was using the miller 19lb injector+MAF tune. i could pull strong up to 5k and lose power after that. with the ms-1 tune the car was weak and stumbled after 2500rpm. limped it home and threw the previous tune on there and called it a night. there was no smoke from the exhaust at all during the drive with the ms1 tune.

Any thoughts and comments would be a great help! i have a headgasket in the mail and an extra known to be good 885 head. this afternoon im going to start with a comp check and maybe try some different tunes if that is inconclusive.

I've seen head gaskets only leak oil into the cylinder, with no other signs of the problem.

Ummm Its LEAKING like a Sieve, I think the term you are looking for is smoking like a train.

Sieve : a device with meshes or perforations through which finer particles of a mixture (as of ashes, flour, or sand) of various sizes may be passed to separate them from coarser ones, through which the liquid may be drained from liquid-containing material, or through which soft materials may be forced for reduction to fine particles -Websters

        this is a seive

        this is a train

see what you did there. No need to thank me I am here too help.

great contribution and pic fail. thanks, i know the path i must follow now.

i have heard the phrase i used before though when referring to my old nitro r/c truck.

and this is the type of sieve used for like jam and stuff. they steam hella. thats where the metaphor comes from.

Thats a steamer brah, hence the steam. No smoke as is in your thread title. Was the smoke coming out of the cabin? This could perhaps explain a few things.

Glad we got that cleared up. Major oil smoke out the exhaust: Poorly sealing piston, bad seal in turbo, oil return from turbo not up to the task. Headgasket and valve guides usually not capable of much oil smoke, especially at idle and cruise.

Oil smoke tends to linger, coolant steam will evaporate much more quickly. Stick your nose in the smoke/steam, coolant will smell/taste sweet.

White smoke - Check your coolant resevoir and see if it's low.

Also check the oil to see if coolant is mixing in.

i think you just hit it on the head. i feel like it could be a seal in the turbz. fucking pos cx racing. god fucking damn it fuck highschool and no money. okay rant over

im going to check that first because there is smoke coming from where my vband clamp is after i shut it off. this makes me think that oil is coming directly from the turbo since there is no way unburned oil is going to get all the way up there.

and for the record, i cant smell shit.
