    Petrol/gas tank drain

Stupid of me to have done I know but I poured really old petrol into my car the other day. It had run out whilst on the drive and I remembered that I had two 1/4 empty cans in the shed. I knew they were old but thought i'd get away with it and fill her up straight away at the station.
Anyway long story short i'm trying to find a write up on how to get the petrol out using th petrol pump and bridging the relay wires for the pump. I can't find a definitive post anywhere.
    Anybody able to help?

    Thanks

What kind of E30? They are in different locations. Once you find it you can look at the relay (it should have the schematic on it) and find out which pins to jump.

If you only put a little bit of bad gas in I would just fill it up the rest of the way with fresh gas and just drive it, unless the bad gas was really bad.

I'm tempted to try filling up the tank with unleaded but that's what i'm worried about tbh. If I filled up and the thing still didn't start i'd have to drain out even more petrol whereas currently there's a gallon of 'fresh' unleaded + 1/2 gallon old unleaded.

Also i'd have to make several trips to the petrol station and i'd be really p'd off it it still didn't start.

Any other offers on the write up for pumping out the tank? Or do we reckon filling up with fresh unleaded should do the trick?

        What year/model?

my 86 eta has a drain right near the passenger side rocker panel. Bently has instructions for jumping the fuel pump relay.

Model is '91. I looked on realoem and it looks like the the pump is in the tank.

So, anybody know the method or what? :(

tried to undo the drain plug but it feels too much like it'll strip btw. It's not budging one bit so bound to end in tears if I keep trying.

Jump the fuel pump relay and put your fuel supply hose into a large tub, or a gas can. Easiest way.

Spray the drain plug with some liquid wrench/wd40 and leave it overnight, try it tomorrow. Why run the old fuel etc throug the pump/filter?

This is exactly what I mean. Some people say supply line some say return. Des it matter which?
Also where abouts to disconnect from. Hence my request for a write up which you know works.

A 1/2 a gallon ?! Just put in another gallon or so to get you to the station.

Must be something else. I've just added 10 litres of fuel and the car is still unable to start. Just turning over. :( I'll check with my local mechanic.

Well, the supply line would be the line coming out of the fuel pump and going towards the fuel rail...

I think my petrol pump's gone. I undid the pipe from the fuel filler (no.6)
                            http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...04&hg=16&fg=15
and jumped pins 30/87 of the fuel pump relay after checking on the web which relay switch it was for the fuel pump relay. No joy there. I then jumped every 30/87 Under the bonnet/hood for good measure and got some nice lights and the horn but not much else.
I even got in and turned the key briefly just to see if a small amount come out but nothing.
Does that sound conclusive or is there another test I can do?
Keep 'em coming. I don't mind taking a slating where necessary but make it constructive. Thanks.

Jean have you ever removed the drain plug on the gas tank of an E30?
I tryed couple years back and just like the OP said thing would not even budge, I ended up breaking my tool. somthing tells me its going to take a bit more than just liquid wrench.
