How to read faulty codes? (Check engine)

Ok, today i changed my ecu and the check engine light came on immediatly, i googled and found the press and depress the gas pedal 5 times while switch is on on position, it didnt work for me i tried different speeds for 15 minutes worth of trying and couldnt get the light to blink. Is there any other methods to read the codes?

turn key on, press gas down once. then quickly press it down 4 times. the CEL should start to flash. count the flashes

Only works with the 173 ECU.

Were you able to do stomp test? I am having same problem.

it would fail if

-the ecu itself was bad
-afm could sometimes cause it to fail.

try swapping out with a friends afm, then their ecu...(recently happened to a friend of mine), turned out to be a mouse eating the wires by the ecu...mouse was found and detained for questioning, wires re-wrapped, all things normal

well i still didnt get the thing to blink, i swapped the ecu and the check engine light went off right away. it was the chipped ecu that made the check engine light to come on, so i assume that it had the wrong specs on chip or it was damaged.

my car is known to be mice free :pimp:

Not all of them support it.

From what I understand if the stomp test will not work the TPS is not correctly adjusted or functioning. If your ECU is the right model for the stomp test and it isn't working I would check your throttle position sensor to make sure it is working correctly.

Anyone ever try an OBD-II reader to 30pin adapter? Would it show basic errors and stuff?

Have you tested your TPS?

It's not that hard and like I said I'm pretty sure if it is miscalibrated it will stop the stomp test from working correctly.
