1988 BMW 325IS sitting for 3 years where to start?

I have 1988 BMW 325IS sitting in garage for 4 years. Car does not start anymore tried jump start. Car was running and driving 4 years ago.
My question is where should I start? Which step should I follow?

    Thanks

Chainge oil and water, new spark plugs and leads. Clean distributor, give alternater a few light hits wit a rubber mallet, drain fuel and replace, oh and new battery.

    Should start then.

Change oil, Flush coolant ,air filter, tune up, drain gas tank completely flush it then add dry gas and run high octane 1st tank. Take a good battery from a running car try then... If you get it running I would drain trans fluid, gear oil, brake fuid complete flush, after sitting that long.

peak inside the gas tank to make sure it hasn't rusted up or turned into varnish in there.

Jump pin 87 and 30 on fuel pump relay, see if it's humming. Pull a plug and put it in its wire, ground side of plug to block and have buddy crank. Look for spark.

Do the timing belt! I suppose you're question was simply what to do to get it started, but it would suck to get it started, and then destroy the engine from an old timing belt that's been in the same position for 4 years!

Might already have a snapped belt who knows it's an estate sale. Also that's a decent AAA ride back on a flat bed. There was no mention in the ad if it was standard or automagic.

Well, that's a good (if depressing!) point, too!

Apparently nobody thought to suggest cleaning the fuel injectors.
Chances are after 4+ years they are clogged/stuck closed.

pull the line off the furel rail while your cranking it and see if fuel spits out.

if yes and it doesnt start, have someone spray some starting fluid in the aircleaner while your cranking and see if it starts. if it runs then, the injectors are stuck. if no start, it could be a 100000000000 things.
