    Tapping/Ticking/Clicking from front wheel?

I noticed it because I had to have the front windows down (see my AC hose thread)...very faint when just driving (have to struggle to hear it from the driver's seat). When driving near a hard 'wall' (barrier, high curb, guide rails), the sound is more noticeable.

Seems the same when turning either direction.

Does speed up when the speed increases.

Had my older daughter listen for me when driving to soccer...she swears it's from the front wheel.

Not noticeable in the car (no vibration, noise, etc...except through the open window).

I'm used to bearing noises changing when turning...but the only thing I can think of off the top of my head is the wheel bearing....

    Anyone else have any suggestions?

    Thanks!

    (318is '91, manual).

I have slotted and drilled rotors, I can hear them passing the brake pads, especially at speeds around 20-40. Sounds about like what you are describing.

        Nothing changed...

The weather got suddenly warmer (to the point the window was down and it was noticeable)...so it might have been present before.

Standard rotors, reasonably (since the early spring) new pads up front, no longer bolts.

I'll probably jack up that side this weekend and play with it (rotate it by hand to see if I can locate the source of the sound)....however, it's nice to have the parts handy that might be replaced, rather than finding the problem, then trying to order or find the parts...

        Thanks for the ideas.
