    Bmw Related School Project

Got the responses I need, thanks to all who participated. Feel free to answer the questions if you still want to tho! Thanks again r3v!

Hey guys, I need to find people who bought any model of bmw, e30, or any other kind to answer a few questions for a project. I am putting the questions on the post so if anyone wants to answer just quote and repost with your opinions.

Hope that you guys can help a fellow enthusiast and student get an A on his final project . Thanks for your time:D.

**MODS- I really didn't know where to put this, if its out of line feel free to delete the thread, just figured I would try.

    1. What led you to chose a BMW manufactured car as your next vehicle?

    2. Can you describe your satisfaction or dissatisfaction in the following situations:
    a. Pre-purchase stage (initial phase before you decided to buy the car)
    b. Purchase stage (actual experience of buying the car)
    c. Usage experience (experience with the recently purchased car)
    d. Service (Opinion on service you received at the pre-purchase & purchase)

        1. My love for old school euro cars, and riding in my cousins M3

        2.
        a. I was quite surprised at all the attention to detail (for a car manufactured in 1991)
        b. Buying it was a breeze, but it would of been different at a dealership.
        c. I've driven it and nothing else, it's a dream come true (apart from a few issues)
        d. I'd definitely buy another BMW, they seem to be built well and are highly worth it. I didn't and never will regret buying this thing.

        Hope that helps somehow.

just bought my car ('91 318is) a few weeks ago so here ya go:

            1. i love bmw as a company and most of their cars. my first and current car is an e46 and i'm very familiar with bmw engineering and working on their cars.

            2. Can you describe your satisfaction or dissatisfaction in the following situations:
            a. had to search a lot online. it was stressful because i was on a budget and needed to find a car i could fix and sell for a profit. in this process i found that cars in my area were typically priced higher than equivalent cars on the west coast
            b. met a few shady people. seems the majority of e30 owners are of lower income making it hard to find a decent car. people were nice but not always honest. this was also stressful.
            c. drove the car about 100 miles back home and it drove pretty good. everything is in okay condition. could definitely be better, but i'm pretty happy with the condition of the car and how it runs. everyday i'll find something else wrong with it but i think i've almost completed my list of things to do.
            d. bought from a private seller so not sure if this is applicable.

                      1. What led you to chose a BMW manufactured car as your next vehicle?
Prior experience with an E30 led to the purchase of a second one

                      2. Can you describe your satisfaction or dissatisfaction in the following situations:
                      a. Pre-purchase stage (initial phase before you decided to buy the car)
Knew what I was getting into (project car)
                      b. Purchase stage (actual experience of buying the car)
Full inspection, with the knowledge that something would come up unexpectedly
                      c. Usage experience (experience with the recently purchased car)
good so far, the car is back together and is running great
                      d. Service (Opinion on service you received at the pre-purchase & purchase)
I do all my own work, so the service is phenominal. The seller was mostly forthright with the issues that he had found on the car. other issues did crop up, but were pre-existing to his purchase

                        1. What led you to chose a BMW manufactured car as your next vehicle?
-my E30 kind of fell into my lap, but i am very happy i didnt pass it up.

                        2. Can you describe your satisfaction or dissatisfaction in the following situations:

                        a. Pre-purchase stage (initial phase before you decided to buy the car)
-i had done a steering rack on this car for a friend of the family, when i saw how well it was put together and how advanced it was for a 90, it was like love.

                        b. Purchase stage (actual experience of buying the car)
-as i said this basicly fell in my lap, transaction was smooth

                        c. Usage experience (experience with the recently purchased car)
-other than an intermiten starter issue, and the thermostat going, this car has never let me down

                        d. Service (Opinion on service you received at the pre-purchase & purchase)[/quote]
-i bought it from original owner, with 147,000 on the clock, he had all service records from bmw, and any other shop it was taken to.

                          1. What led you to chose a BMW manufactured car as your next vehicle? I've had many VW's and one e30 prior to this one. While I like VW, the e30 just had more to it that I enjoyed. I wanted a coupe, good fuel economy, and a solid car that handles well. I also wanted something I would enjoy working on, and has some basic mods available. Didn't hurt that the price was right too.

                          2. Can you describe your satisfaction or dissatisfaction in the following situations:
                          a. Pre-purchase stage (initial phase before you decided to buy the car) The search for a suitable daily was long and irritating. I found many vehicles, but nothing that jumped out at me. The few that I did look at and drive were either a lot more expensive than it was worth, or too beat up. I happened upon an 86 325es and made arrangements to see it.
                          b. Purchase stage (actual experience of buying the car) Upon inspection of the vehicle I found it drove well, had features I wanted, needed only minor work, price was right, and wasn't a rust bucket despite spending its life in Indiana. Also, gaining knowledge of the car's life was a good selling point.
                          c. Usage experience (experience with the recently purchased car) I discovered that for once, it didn't need more work than I'd initially expected, despite inspecting it at night. I repaired what needed repairing in most cases (still have some minor issues to tackle) and have been using it since.
                          d. Service (Opinion on service you received at the pre-purchase & purchase) I bought it from a private seller, so service was what you'd normally expect.

                            1. What led you to chose a BMW manufactured car as your next vehicle?
My father indoctrinated me as a youngster to BMW's. He had a 1978 Graphite grey 530i and he even bought me a pillow for when I was born in the shape of said car. He also bought the 325 that I drove up until last year from the dealership and I have pictures. I also bought my e30 ///M3 in May of 2001, and my e39 540i 6-speed last year. I have the sickeness, its clear.

                            b. Purchase stage (actual experience of buying the car)
                            Good.
                            c. Usage experience (experience with the recently purchased car)
                            Mindblowing
                            d. Service (Opinion on service you received at the pre-purchase & purchase)
                            very satisfactory

I am extremely thankful for all your input. I am currently writing my paper and the input I got from you guys really helped me out. Thanks again for taking time to answer, maybe this can become a thread that everyone answers just for shits and giggles. I answered the questions myself and immediately fell more in love with my e30. I digress, either way thanks for the help.
