    E30 Convertible Fix Plate

Anyone know anything about these on eBay? I have been told they aren't great... just wanted some other opinions. I would just replace my motor but I can't find one for a reasonable price.

Hi Kyle. The plate will work fine. That is like the one I made for my '91 vert. However, the whole top mechanism is a poor design and will eventually leave you stranded in the rain with your top half way up.

Take my advice and convert it to a full blown manual top. I converted mine to manual and like it much better.

I have a manual top and trust me...after putting it down like 5 times it is seriously so easy now that I have mastered it...

Just go manual and dont worry about it anymore...I lift the top and lower it one handed and the other hand holds the cover until I have to hold it up with my shoulder when tucking it in correctly...

Thanks for the replies! I guess I am still too new of an E30 owner to throw in the towel on my power top. It still works 75% (hence the need for the plate) just fine on its own. I will give the plate a try and see how it pans out. Maybe I can drive down to Chattanooga when I'm done just in time for it to break and Steve can get a BIG "I told you so!" out of it. :D You're the man Steve! Can't wait til NC next year!
