LI to Ohio and back roadtrip...

I drove from Sag Harbor (Long Island) to Mentor, Ohio friday to pick up my two boys who are currently living with their mom there, and staying with me for the summer.
The car did good all the way there.. I do need to raise my suspension next time, driving on roads like the cross bronx can be brutal.

So I get there, pick them up, and see my coolant light is on. Part of the plan with the trip was to pick up some black sport seats in Cleveland from my friends wrecked 524d. When at the shop where the car was, I popped my hood to check my coolant level, and found that my fan had been kissing my BRAND NEW radiator, the whole ride to Ohio.

Looks like my passenger side motor mount seperated, and since my little Under the bellhousing-foward engine movement preventing-bushing-dohicky has rotted away and I keep forgetting to order a new one, the engine was able to rock fore and aft enough to mess up the radiator.
There was a slight amount of coolant seeping down the back side of the radiator, but very minimal. CRAP!

So I installed my seats, (which are cool but not as mint as I expected. There a tad chapped and the drivers seat has one rip in the inside bolster. They should fix up nice and they were cheap)
then I searched the Cleveland area for an E30 radiator (and BTW are they the same as E36?)
Found a radiator Saturday morning for 113.00 New. By this time I noticed Im not even leaking coolant anymore. the leak healed itself somehow. Weird.
I put the rad. in the trunk, Removed my engine fan, and continued my trip back to NY with my kids, and Had no problems the whole way.

At one stop I made, In shippenville PA, I was approached by a kid with an Mk4 Jetta sitting on 'Vette rims with a big fart pipe exhaust. Hes like, "dude are you on youre way to the Euro car show?" I told him Im merely stopping for gas on my way through, I had no idea.
So I decide to break up my 10 hour drive and possibly see some cool cars.
    Wrong.
I drove a few mins up the road to the place and found a parking lot with 3 VW's, a couple Chrysler crossfires, and an old Eagle Talon. All cars were stock with some nice rims, by the looks of it.
I didnt stay long. I think it was a VW vortex arranged meet, but they were welcoming any VW/Audi/BMW people. No Bimmers in sight and I couldnt stay to "show" my car, it was full of bags and two kids with booster seats and snacks and etc etc..

    Anybody hear about this "show"?

I attached a few pics of my kids helpin to swap the seats, and One pic of the car, as we came out of a rest area in PA somewhere, It looked so cool sitting there I had to snap a pic

BTW, would anybody be interested in that 524td? he had an accident that tore the thrust rod out of its mount and pretty much destroyed the front end, and the body is rusty anyway.

I thought it would be cool to build an E30 with a diesel in it, but its tough to get much out of those engines from what ive read

yeah she did pretty good. My only complaint with E30s is when im on the road for a long time with the cruise on, I have no place to stash my right foot! I have to rest my knee on the console and lay my right foot kinda sideways on the floor, and after a few hours it gets cramped.

Also on the way up there it was a bit shaky but I stopped by at my old work, BMW Cleveland and the guys there let me use the lift and balance my rims. Also they offered me a job if I wanna move back to Ohio. Hmmm

              Do you know Tom Tunnel?

Wish I had seen that cool car of yours while you were here. I live in Willoughby.

I recently drove mine from Columbus Ohio to LI....the scarriest part of the trip was the cross bronx. All i could think about was the threat of killing my oil pan.
