Possibly fuseible link in the rear pos. battery cable. Thats what happened to me. It would crank and I wouldnt get fuel or spark.

So, if it was an ETA and it cranks....can it still be a fusable link?! I never had one of those.... and it sounds like his car is still a dual pump car.

Stephen is going to check for spark next and then for fuel... to get the easy things out of the way.

Sucks your not anywhere near Redding, I have an entire parts car you could snag whatever you want off of.

If it doesn't turn out to be either of the Fuel pumps then it is most likely the CPS. Just watched a nearly identical situation happen at GutenFest last month with my buddy Jeff's car (aka e30_325es).

Your car won't crank without a working cps. A weak one, maybe?

swapped to a spare 153 ecu and it fired up, but died from the shock of slamming the hood closed. so i found a slightly lose connection on the ignition coil. seems more solid now, but i did kill it once after putting back to 173. not sure if the problem is solved with the tighetened ignition coil AND the 153, or just luck

Damn, I just gas'd up my jet, with two main fuses and a spare DME.

I dont know about the ETA part, but mine would still crank when the fusable link was bad

I found a loose connection off the harness to the firewall whereit meets battery/power wires. Think that was the culprit
