    Damn leaky trunk.

So I searched the forums and only found threads on tail light leaks. Noticed a moldy smell in the trunk and water keeps filling underneath the battery. Where is this damn leak coming from? Is it the lid?

Check sunroof drains, taillight gaskets, trunk seal, antenna seal, and those little tabs that hold the c pillar trim in behind the window, those are a direct hole into the trunk.

I've just discovered water in the left side where the jack sits. I'm guessing its the antenna grommet, but it may be something else. I have an extra grommet so that's the first thing I'm doing.

It's probably the sunroof drain. There's one on each corner of the sunroof and one empties right where you have water. Use an air compressor and blow the line out from the sunroof and that should do it. While you're up there, do the other three too - if one is clogged the others probably are too.

Be sure to do this GENTLY, or you might have a larger leak. I would start with a glass of water and pour it in each drain, then see if you can catch the leak.

We fought the wet trunk for years... new trunk seal, new antenna seals, new tailight gaskets, both on the older and newer models.... and even siliconed the tailights.. Still had water getting in...
One car had a bad weld where the trunk hinge attaches under the rear window, if you open the trunk and look in front of the trunk seal, you will see a couple of divots, those are the spot welds, one of ours cracked.
thought we had found the problem, but no.... water still got in....
The problem all along was the gasket around the vent where the sunroof drains drop out at... it is part #9 in this penske diagram...
              http://www.penskeparts.com/DiagramsR...iagram=51_0836

One of our we put new gaskets on, the other, we just ran a bead of silicone around it, let it tack up and then reinstalled the vent.
              Good luck.

Mine turned out to be the left taillight. I checked the antenna grommet, but it was good, then I poured water down the left side trunk drain rail, and soon water started leaking into the well where the jack sits. I took the light out and cleaned the gasket, re-installed it with silicone sealant, but it still leaks. I've ordered a new gasket which should fix the leak.
