    M52 + 6sp + 3.15 = 33mpg

Friend's E30 was stranded in Florida so we went to get it. I was actually hoping for more and I know it is possible but since we have 3 people, luggage, 2 jacks, lots of tools, camera bag, laptops and more I cannot say I was upset!

We were going to take the M3 down but since I am getting a full exhaust built, cams re-timed, custom tuned and then installing a 3.73S I wanted to see what she would do. Really nice for an 87 325iS ;)

Sounds sick, I can't wait to buy a spare M52 long block.

      FWIW, S50 + 5spd +3.15 (in an e36) = 35mpg...so...yea.

I wonder why your fuel economy is so much better than mine? I get *maybe* 23-24 on the highway with a g260 and a 3.46, which is not different enough to explain the delta.

I don't drive fast on the highway. The max speed we hit was 80mph going down a hill. Averaged somewhere between 70-75mph. We are on stock 14s as well. Wasn't much rotational resistance. 3.15 + 6sp(overdrive) means at 70 the revs were low.

I also seem to be pretty good at saving fuel if need be. I averaged 28mph in a 96 328iC last time I drove it to Florida from Atlanta. Killer mileage for that heavy thing.

Not bad. I think mine would pull down pretty good mpg's if I layed off it for a full tank of gas. Need to get the odo working to find out. lol

On the highway with auto and overdrive? I would think that would be possible.

My cruising speed is 65-70, generally. (I drive in the land where 75 is reckless driving with a mandatory court date. Seriously.) And with the overdrive on the G260, my revs are not much higher than yours.
