M540i e34?

Anyone ever driven a M540i E34 6 speed manual? What are they like for a daily driver and is the E34 a reliable car?

They are pretty great as a DD, super smooth and surprisingly quick in a straight line. Only thing I'd worry about on the M sport is EDC suspension, repairing it can be expensive. Other than that it's just normal e34 stuff, m60's are notorious for leaky intake/pcv/throttle body gaskets and e34's eat front suspension parts. Don't know if rust is a problem there or not but if so check the bottoms of the doors behind the lower trim pieces

If the suspension is damaged i'd get rid of it and use the eibach/bilstein b8 combo. I've heard some negative feedback about the m60 engines, but it really depends on the driver and the amount of km's. The engine has traveled 190000km's and they're all highway driving because the owner lives way out of town and he's a fairly old guy. I just don't know if it's worth driving 5 hours to go see it, it looks the good, grey leather sports interior, standard 540i bumpers and throwing stars.

Use to have a non M E34 540i. I miss that car. It was an auto and that was the only thing I hated. The 6 speed milage rivals the 6 cylinders for milage on the Hwy. I would pick one up if the milage was decent. The M60 nikasil is one thing to research before buying though
