    Stealing from the Stealer

The local dealer down here is having a sale starting friday until monday... 50% off all parts and labor for any car older than '98. Obviously, I'm quite happy about this, considering i get a bonus payment on Friday.

Now the shit is, I don't know what to buy, and I want to take advantage of this. Any suggestions as to what i should get now while i can? I've got about a $500 budget for this, with my old man possibly helping.

Rear subframe and trailing arm bushings installed... that should eat up the $500.

If they have a body shop, get a re-spray.. i remmeber your car needing it.. or just buy a stock of maintenance parts for a couple years :-)

I'm doing that myself, why the hell should i pay the stealer for that? :P
Although buying the bushings now is a good idea. that's on the list.

Actually, i might need one seeing as the PO had the one that's on the car welded back together....

but then again there's no highway offramps and giant concrete bricks in the middle of the road :P

I highly doubt they are offering the half off discount if you just walk in and buy parts, I'm sure it would have to be in combination with them doing the actual work to the car.

                  Ok there Negative Nancy.

Buy maintenance parts. Go through and replace everything bushing and suspension related.

Let's call you Pessimistic Patty, shall we? ;)

If Nancy and Patty don't believe that your dealership has a bunch of old parts and want to clean up a bit with a big sale, that's their problem.

I don't think it's that far fetched - there's a huge markup, so bringing it down 50% isn't giving the stuff away.

Beemerfanatik is correct. They do this to get rid of old parts. You have to remember that they are the ONLY dealer for the whole country, they have a huge inventory of parts and usually end up not using a lot of it. In a month they destroy old stock. I got my fuel pump at discount last time for the same reason. Here they do this about twice a year here. They also offer special financing on new cars. It's actually a big event where they pull out all the cars and have food and all kinds of stuff. They're located on a major avenue so it attracts a shitload of attention.

Well, i've got bushings on order. Going uprated aftermarket on those since i don't want to have to replace them again.

So far my list is O2 sensor and a shitload of gaskets. can't think of anything else though and i lost my to-do list. I think i just might buy euro ellips from em LOL.
