Is it me or are all audi forums bullshit? I just dont get it. But, in my giant quest for another car ive come to think about an audi. Perhaps an b5 a4 1.8t quattro avant manual. There rather commonplace and you can get them at a good price. You dont have to bother about tons of tons of maintence. Its quiet, the ride noise is tons less than any old bmw/german car. Performance market on the 1.8t is huge. You can go snowboarding with the quattro, and not have to totaly worry about sand and tires and stuff. A nice set of coilovers would also be nice for a winter mode. The list goes on. but an E30 m3 would be totaly delicious. Alright that was a rant, but answer the first question and your golden. But if you have made it to here I guess you can comment on the general question of buying a newer car/that audi. Thanks boyos. BTW: I will probably auto-x any car i get very little, and I dont have a gigantic interest in track days at the moment.

If you want an audi cool, but to think of it as reliable car is not even close. Every one I have known, friends, family, and shop costumers has had unusual amounts of problems with the brand. My sisters 01 A4 with 70,000 has already had an exhaust header pipe, alternator, 3 out of 4 wheel bearings, the stereo is dieing out, and it looks like it’s got a turbo or stem seals going bad because when you start it in the morning your welcomed with a few moments of blue smoke. There fun reasonably inexpensive good looking cars, but if you want reliability and a "real German car" go Mercedes or BMW.Previous cars, bmw's 85 325e 93 318is

funny, all the A4's I know are doing fine... including my mom's that is not too far from 200k.
And if you want a real german car, i'd say you're talking VW since they are the largest manufacturer in Germany :P
