    selling a car out of state

    How does the paperwork go as far as selling a car to an out of state buyer? I'm from california and buyer is somewhere in the east coast.

    Call their DMV and your DMV. Let the buyer worry about that if you don't want to deal with it.

          I would think a written up bill of sale signed by both parties and your signed pink slip sent to him should do the trick. Let the buyer handle it form there

            well the buyer is flying in to pick up the car and drive it back. i dont want to be responsible for anything when hes driving the car back.

              Geta release of liability form from AAA/DMV, it states you sold the car and are not responsible, yada yada.

                  I read somewhere that AAA will also help you by doing your car "closing" with the buyer if you go to a local AAA place (assuming you are a member). The release of liability form should be filled out but also rip off the top portion of the title paper - fill it in and also send in for release of liability. Good luck.
